Photo Copy - OCR

Recently I got an assignment that I need to type a few pages of document into the computer to edit, but after typing for about 10 minutes and I still got alot more pages to type. Being the lazy me, I tried to google around looking for tools that might help me in typing this document and I came across this tool called OCR.

OCR stands for optical character recognition, it is a tool mainly used to covert books into e-books. So I played around with this tool, and it works fairly well with scanned documents but a slight increase in errors for photographs.

I feel that this tool will come in handy, espically for students that need to copy alot of notes during their lectures, with this tool they can just take a photograph with their handphone and convert those photographs into electronic text using OCR. There is also a free web base OCR tool that you can try.

  2. This is a really interesting tool! I tried it out at the website but the text that appeared wasn't understandable at all. Maybe you could give us an example, using your own notes! :)

  3. @dyana I'll try my best :)

@Beverley Ng maby you should try scanning or take high res photos of your document, that way the result will be more accurate.
