Facebook getting a facelift.

Facebook, the 500million users social networking website founded by Mark Zuckerberg during his college days is working on a promising facelift to the current interface that might revolutionize the world of social networking. Rumours have said that this is a preparation strategy from facebook to compete with the upcoming Google's social networking site call Google+1.

Mr. Mark Zuckerberg 26, havard dropout and self made multi-billionaire.

Now talking about the facelift, the major focus of this facelift is to make the profile page more visual and additional convinence, so at a glance on that person profile page, people can easily identify and get know more about that person.

The improvements on the profile page:

  • Show a short introduction on that person.
  • Show recent tagged photos on that person.
  • Revamped group function to group your friends e.g classmates, cousins and etc.
  • Profile comparison for mutal friends and common intrest.

Personally I still prefer the old interface where there is more emphasis on personal preference and control. For example users can set the privacy of their profiles to show what they want to show to strangers and hide what they don't want others to see. With the current upgrade the emphasis of privacy is gone, everyone can now see where are u working at, who are you dating and see from your photos what are you up to recently.

Users are given a option to upgrade their profile or continue to remain on their old profile page, the upgrade is irreversible, once upgraded the upgrade cannot be undo, so users should think carefully before upgrading their profile page.
you can do the upgrade and get more information on the facebook new profile page.

Photo Copy - OCR

Recently I got an assignment that I need to type a few pages of document into the computer to edit, but after typing for about 10 minutes and I still got alot more pages to type. Being the lazy me, I tried to google around looking for tools that might help me in typing this document and I came across this tool called OCR.

OCR stands for optical character recognition, it is a tool mainly used to covert books into e-books. So I played around with this tool, and it works fairly well with scanned documents but a slight increase in errors for photographs.

I feel that this tool will come in handy, espically for students that need to copy alot of notes during their lectures, with this tool they can just take a photograph with their handphone and convert those photographs into electronic text using OCR. There is also a free web base OCR tool that you can try.

War of the pads.

Not long ago Apple came out with a tablet device called iPad, it is widely supported by consumers and had been the undisputed champion on the market, but recently Samsung also came out with an android base Samsung Galaxy tab to challenge Apple's iPad, they have also done something like this in the past like coming out with Samsung galaxy S, which was suppose to be a Iphone killer.

iPad vs Galaxy Tab

So what makes the Galaxy tab a strong opponent to iPad? Lets's take a look at the difference specs of both devices.
picture from www.devicemag.com

By looking at the specs we can see that both have the same processor speed, Galaxy tab is smaller, lighter meaning it's more portable, have a front and rear camera and twice the amount of ram. The only losing part is the battery life and lack of application in the Android market.
From what we have see here Samsung Galaxy
